Meghan Meeker

Social Media Professional | Digital Marketing Strategist | Dedicated Leader | Photographer | Copywriter | Knowledge-Sharer | Brand Champion | Creative Force

Meghan is a social media professional with over 12+ years of experience in the digital marketing field. She has built successful social media teams, been a key player in launching new brands, and lent her expertise to several companies during times of transition, crisis, and growth. She even once got a shout-out from LeBron James himself (it’s a good story).

Currently, she is the Senior Manager of Social Media at Vericast, where she was brought on to lead the consolidation of several disparate companies into one unified brand voice. She currently manages a team of high-performing social media managers who will tell anyone that will listen that she’s “the best boss ever.”

In her free time, Meghan is an accomplished photographer—seeing a direct correlation between marketing and compelling imagery that connects an audience to a brand’s message. She has held several executive roles on local nonprofit boards and believes very deeply that volunteerism can change a community. She is also a proud dog parent of rescue dogs and married to the love of her life.

Meghan is a Northeast Ohio native who comes from a long line of gritty, witty, engaged, and civically-minded entrepreneurs.

“I worked with Meghan in the same department for over three years at The University of Akron (UA). During that time she managed all main social accounts and collaborated with colleagues on several secondary departmental accounts and consulted across campus. In her time at UA she brought vision and purpose to the university’s social and brand voice. As a content creator, her ability to be aware of and foresee needs and trends is unmatched. From collaborating with teammates on the much anticipated annual Halloween costume and video featuring mascot Zippy, to seeing tweets of overheated students in warm classrooms and personally buying and delivering popsicles to them, her focus was on creating memorable and positive student experiences, online and in-person. Meghan’s ability to advise and strategize during times of senior leadership transition was critical to finding the balance of communicating change, providing reassurance and resources, and still maintaining the larger purpose of highlighting a vibrant campus and world-class academics. As a person, Meghan cares about the success and well-being of those around her. Her humor and positivity are infectious and bring any team closer. ”

- Steve Sedlock, Digital Marketing & Communications Manager, University of Akron

Meghan is an incredibly skilled social media practitioner. She's got her finger on the pulse of the platforms *and* the people - understanding not just how the platforms (and rules) are evolving but how people are engaging. She joined my team with a number of challenges to solve - including among other things consolidating a very messy social footprint in an efficient way, educating up and out on the value of (and the results within) social, and developing a sticky social strategy that would pull people into our orb and get them engaging with our brand, our content, and our culture. Meghan handles the challenges and changes in broader strategy thrown at her with such grace and consistently delivers results that impress. But I'm burying the lede a little here - because the most enjoyable thing about working with Meghan is that she is 100% authentically, no-B.S.-about-it a good human and a natural-born leader. Outside of her day job, she's involved in a number of local community initiatives invested in equality, bringing communities closer together, and developing future leaders. Those experiences, passion, and authenticity have helped her develop herself and others in her professional role, allowing her to lead with both empathy and conviction.”

Social Media Posts | Copywriting and Content Creation

Writing social media copy is much harder than most marketers realize. Social media marketers have less than a second to grab attention and stop that thumb from scrolling. Getting your message across with witty, well-written, and relevant copy gets progressively more difficult as consumers get bombarded with more and more ads every day. Good thing I come with an English Degree (and an Art History degree, but we can get to that later) and over a decade of experience writing both B2B and B2B copy for social media and websites.

Ok, but the proof is in the pudding, right? Here are a few KPIs for organic and paid social that I was responsible for that other social media nerds might find impressive:

When I’m on your team, you get a social media professional but you also get a creative powerhouse who knows good design and ‘scroll-stopping’ imagery. Even if I’m not behind the camera, I am an excellent team leader who can direct creative professionals to get the best output. But hey, you’re here so take a look at some of my photos.
